What you do first thing in the morning sets the tone for the entirety of your day. That is why it is so important to establish an effective morning routine. Establishing an effective morning routine for productivity and positivity has allowed me to reduce negative vibrations such as anxiety, procrastination, laziness, and having a negative outlook. My morning routine prepares me for a day filled with maximum productivity and success.
In the past, I would oversleep, then wake up and check my social media profiles before rushing to get ready for my day. This enabled me in starting off each day will a vibration of anxiety. Now I spend the first moments of the day feeding my soul.
Wake up early.
The best change that I have made to my morning routine is waking up earlier. I wake up between 6:30-7:30 AM each morning. I recommend starting to wake up an hour or two earlier than you are used to so that you have enough time to ground yourself and set a positive tone for your day.
I do my best to declare that each day will be a great one upon waking up. It may seem superstitious, but your subconscious mind is most receptive to messages and vibrations after you have just woken up. Making a conscious effort for make sure these messages and vibrations are positive can greatly improve your life. It won’t guarantee that every day will be perfect, but having a positive mindset can allow you to move through any difficulties with ease.
Read your chief aim/definite purpose statement.
In his book, Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill recommends writing out a chief aim or definite purpose statement and reading it out loud twice each day. He recommends reading it just after waking up in the morning and right before going to sleep at night. You definite purpose statement should include specific information about what you want to achieve in life and what you plan to offer in return.
Reading this statement each morning keeps me focused on my long-term goals. This intense focus enables me to stay strong when I am tempted by distractions or discouraged by obstacles. Having a definite purpose statement has been an effective method of achieving success for many people. I modeled my own definite purpose statement after Bruce Lee’s.
Write in a journal.
Journaling is a great way to get to know yourself. Knowing yourself makes it easier to understand your desires and where you want to be in life. I begin each day with my journal. My definite chief aim is written in my journal, so after reading it, I flip to a clean page and begin to write.
I begin by writing down a few things that I am grateful for. This list can include anything no matter how small it is. Writing a gratitude list each day allows you to focus on the positive things in your life. I follow up by writing down a few positive affirmations, and then I write down everything that I need to achieve and complete before the end of the day. Lastly, I write down any new ideas that came to me overnight during my dreams.
After I complete my journaling activity, I like to exercise for about 15-20 minutes. Exercising helps me to wake and gets my endorphins and adrenalin flowing for the day. This makes working a more positive and enjoyable activity. It also encourages me to drink water, which is a great habit to form. I follow up my exercise routine with a bottle of water and a healthy breakfast.
Throughout each of the above activities, I like to play something inspirational. I gravitate towards audiobooks, podcasts, and YouTube videos that contain positive messages or knowledge that contributes to my personal growth. I try not to consume any form of entertainment that does not positively contribute to my self-development in the morning. Lately, I have been avoiding listening to music, checking social media, and watching YouTube videos with no substance first thing in the morning.
